A taste of things to come...Yummy Chocolate Pudding

We are waiting patiently for Bump to arrive and to help us Steve buys lovely treats. Steve has said this will all stop when Bump arrives, so no wonder Bump wants to stay inside me and get all the goodies I have been eating. Last night Steve heated up a chocolate pudding in the oven and served it up with ice-cream. I only had a little (for once) as I had already eaten prunes and custard. Steve seemed really excited that I did not want much and I could see the reason why when I went into the kitchen. Steve managed to get the pudding around his face and on his t-shirt as well as the carpet on the floor which I have now put in the wash. I laughed so hard at the sight of Steve and seeing how much he enjoyed his dessert. I just had this vision going through my head watching Steve feed Bump chocolate pudding and wondering who will need the bib ;-)

Five Days Overdue

Today is Bank Holiday Monday and unless Bump makes an appearance today, Steve's predictions for Bumps arrival are out the window. We have been trying to keep busy so we are not thinking about the inevitable as we know I could go into labour anytime now. My feet and left leg are feeling pretty tight and swollen but until Bump comes I don't see this improving. I hardly slept a wink last night as I had frequent trips to the bathroom and my left foot and leg ached for most of the night.

Our friend Donna, invited us to a motorbike fair yesterday so we decided to go along and take our minds of things for a few hours. There were lots of bikes, stalls and music throughout the afternoon, and Donna and I even partook in a little headbanging to get things moving. I have to say the four (Bump included) of us did have fun. Donna told us she had Bumps football kit sorted out, a lovely Manchester United kit, so we cannot wait to have Bump wearing that.

We had a chili for tea last night. I made two, one extra spicy and one regular but there has been no effect on me. I think a nice walk today is called for, or better still a swim as my back does not hurt when I go swimming. Come on Bump, Mummy will feel so much better when you come out to meet us.

40 Weeks & 1 day check up

I walked into the midwife's office and said this baby is not coming out yet, and she calmly said “You're only one day over, Hayley”. My midwife is lovely and she said everything is good and Baby will come. Mareike, my midwife checked my blood pressure and checked Bump's heart-beat and all is good. She offered to do a "sweep" to see if we could get things moving, but Steve and I decided to wait a little longer. We asked Mareike her opinion on this and she said she would hold on a while longer too, and that there are lots of things we could do ourselves to help bring on labour. I think Steve has mentioned some of these options in his blog .

We headed straight to the shop after our appointment and bought a huge pineapple as Marika said pineapples contain a substance that starts the cervix dilating. So far I have eaten half of it.

Right now I am sitting in the bridal suite of The Crewe & Harpur Arms in Longnor . Steve and I decided to get away for the night so I found this lovely little village in The Peak District. The room is very posh and the bath is huge so I will feel very pampered here having a bath. I can use the bath at home but it’s smaller and not as easy to get in and out now. Also the shower in our room here has a little seat to sit on whilst showering, so it’s all great for my back ache. Well I must sign off now the bubbles may over flow.

Second verse same as the first

I have had so many phone calls, texts and emails today asking if there's any news and I say the same thing "no news, Bump is staying in". I even went swimming today and tried bouncing around but no use. We are actually going to stay in a lovely B & B tomorrow not far away to take our minds off matters. Steve has put my hospital bag in the car just in case and I have my hospital notes at the ready.

I did have a nice afternoon though as I had a visit from my friend Kerry who has a 12 week old son Matthew, and what a little smasher he is. We tried to get Matthew to will Bump out because he is waiting for his new friend to arrive. Matthew did get to try out Bumps bouncing chair and he seemed to love it, especially when we switched the vibrating motor on and he was all smiles. I hope Bump takes to the bouncing chair like Matthew did today. Oh well time will tell. Time, I seem to have loads of it right now just because I am waiting, but I must try to cherish it as I know time will fly once Bump arrives.

Two blogs in one day! Now that tells you that I really don’t know what to do with myself :-)

It's D-Day...But where's Bump?

There is no sign of Bump coming out yet and I am very impatient now...I just don’t know what to do with myself (hummm, that's a line from a song). I am going to meet a few friends for lunch today and then I may go swimming.
I have heard that 70% of first time babies come late and usually within a week of the due date, so I may have a while to go yet. I get little twinges and think oh is this the start of labour, but my midwife assured me I will know when I am in labour. I think a vindaloo may be on the dinner menu soon. I have also heard eating huge amounts of pineapple and drinking raspberry leaf tea may help to bring on labour, but who knows. I guess Bump will come out when he/she is good and ready. I in the meantime need to sit back relax and wait…easier said than done.

Stop Snoring....Oh wait it's me!

Oh my goodness I have never heard snoring as loud as what is coming out of my own nose. Poor Steve! I have taken up snoring the last few weeks and I can honestly say it is so loud I wake myself up. I assume I am snoring because I have put weight on and I have been pretty stuffy the last few months, a pregnancy condition that some women get. Steve even taped me the other week using his mobile phone and sent the recording to me and I could not believe it. On Saturday I was having a nap and caught Steve trying to tape me once again. He said it was much louder now and he had to get it on tape. If Steve had his way he would put my snoring on the website for all to hear...What a pleasure that would be. Anyhow, I hope that the snoring goes away as I lose the weight I have put on with Bump. I guess time will tell and if Steve starts asking to move to a bigger house with more bedrooms I will know why.

Fed Up!

Oh please Bump hurry up and come out I am so fed up being big, tired and waiting, and now I have some horrible discomforts going on due to pregnancy. I am about to call the midwife to see if I can do anything to help with my discomfort, but I am afraid she will say it's all part of pregnancy and you will have to just hang in there. Oh well, I know it's all worth it and I would not change anything. I am just so looking forward to meeting Bump and talking to a little person instead of my stomach all the time.

Over the last week I have noticed that Bump is not so active and have mentioned this to my midwife, but she says there is not much room any more so the kicks and prods become less frequent. I am now very aware when Bump does move and I like to keep a mental record in my head. If at any time I get a little worried I just rub my stomach and ask Bump tp move so Mummy knows he/she is alright, and low and behold I get a movement most of the time, and that makes me feel very happy. I keep telling Bump there is alot more space to move if he/she comes out but Bump seems to be settled right now. I guess I just have to be patient and hang in there. Bump will come out when he/she is ready, at least that's what Steve keeps telling me.

8 Days until D-Day

I finished work over three weeks ago and this is my first blog entry since then; shame on me! Steve always beats me to updating his blog with our latest news. Steve is so on top of this blogging; I do hope he is the same at keeping up with Bumps toilet needs. To be honest, I have to say I feel very lucky and confident to have Steve by my side during this special time in our lives. I know Steve will be a great Daddy and be very supportive. All through my pregnancy Steve has been a God send, encouraging, supportive and most of all patient. All these qualities and we have not even hit the delivery suite yet!

I am now ready for Bump to make his/her appearance but something tells me Bump is not coming out until he/she really has to. Steve keeps saying Bump will make an entrance on the Bank holiday weekend so that every birthday can be one long celebration. If Bump is anything like me and wants to have long birthdays then that will be the case because, I used to try and make my birthdays last about a week. The fact I have a big family and need to fit the partying in with everyone seemed to be my excuse. Anyway, we are now in single figures and are awaiting Bumps arrival.
