A blog update at last
I bet you all thought I'd left the face of the earth? I am happy to say I am well and happy and only just finding the time to write a blog. Everyday my time is so precious. The little man and I are always so busy going to Baby cafe, Clinic, Mother and Baby and visiting other mums we have met in our Ante Natal classes.
Oliver is such a joy, smiling lots now and even holding his head up. Oliver is eight weeks old today and already wearing clothes that are 3-6 months. I love being a mum and love having a family. Steve is wonderful with Oliver and very patient with me, especially in the middle of the night when I'm at my worse. The sleepless nights are hard but hopefully they will get better as Oliver gets bigger. I already know all the things he likes and dislikes, one of his dislikes is being held a lot. We went to Wiltshire at the weekend and I felt so sorry for the little man as everyone wanted to hold him but he wanted to be left alone. Oliver loves the fresh air and the car and best of all getting up in the morning. I bet he is not so keen at getting up when he's a teenager or going to school ;-)
I cannot believe how fast my maternity leave is going. My colleague Kerry has extended her maternity leave and is taking some unpaid maternity, so Steve and I are working out our finances to see if we can do the same. Ultimately, any unpaid maternity leave I take will depend upon how my work are about it. We are thinking about putting Oliver in his day care one afternoon a week so that he gets used to it and Steve and I can have a little time together. This may sound harsh but we do not have family leaving near us and do not have any other help, so all our time is spent on Oliver. I think it is important not to forget each other and at times I miss Steve because we do not have the time we used to have. I know this will not be for ever and Oliver is the best thing that has happened to us both, but we need to remember each other too because we could get easily wrapped up in our baby son and forget how he got here in the first place. Maybe one day soon Steve and I will go for a bike ride together and then maybe I'll start shifting some of the weight I have put on. I mean, I need to get healthy and fit ready for the next one ;-)
